The final minute.

What a treat - or anguish - for the 42,914 fans.

With one minute left, JSU kicker Ascher Ashley punched in a 20-yard field goal to put the game away. A thrill for JSU fans, a heartbreaker for the TSU side.

Just a few minutes earlier in the fourth quarter, TSU had tied the score with a touchdown and a two-point conversion with Charles Anthony taking a pitchout and running right for TSU's final points.

Jackson State drove right back, however, running eight minutes off the clock with 16 plays.
Ashley's field goal cemented the drive.

Tennessee State took its last possession up to its own 44, but the clock was running down. A "Hail Mary" pass bounced away in the end zone, and with it went TSU's hopes.

All night, JSU had relied on its running game, with senior Tarnaka Counslor piling up 125 yards and two touchdowns with an average of 8.9 yards per carry.

TSU struggled, using three quarterbacks but never finding the right combination. Still, they came oh so close.
