Jackson State 21, Tennessee State 14
Jackson State came into the Classic ranked 10th in the NCAA
Division1-AA, and the team proved its rating early that night.
However, after jumping out to a 21-point lead, JSU then held
on as Tennessee State fought back to make it a contest.
The first three quarters were all JSU, which rolled up 335
yards of offense against TSU's 79 yards.
As the fourth quarter began, TSU quarterback Todd Valentine
hit Duane Moore for a touchdown.
With only a minute and a half left in the game, TSU recovered
a Jackson State fumble, and
Valentine lead his team down the field, throwing a 31-yard
touchdown pass to make it JSU 21, TSU 14.
Jackson State fielded the resulting onside kick, and the clock
ran down.
The exciting Classic was witnessed by a crowd of 55,212.
